Juvenile Prison System: Discussion Roundtable for the CORE ED Academy Project

A roundtable discussion was held at the UNIVERSITETI MESDHETAR I SHQIPERISE (Mediterranean University of Albania) for the CORE-ED Academy project, which aims to improve the juvenile justice system in Albania and the BZalkan region.

This is the first project of its kind in the region, actively involving academia in this sensitive field. The project involves a wide network of partners from universities and international institutions.

CORE-ED Academy emphasizes the importance of integrating rehabilitation institutions with universities, which have the potential to become hubs of social impact.

The Rector of the Mediterranean University of Albania, Prof. Dr. Adrian Civici, stressed the need for collaboration between international partners, universities, and other actors. The project brought together academics, Albanian partners, local government officials, and representatives of the Ministry of Justice.

“Universities have the potential to become centers of social impact, and training programs strengthen the justice system. The establishment of a research center for the Balkans and corrective pedagogy is an important step to ensure the impact of the initiative,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevila Rama, Vice-Rector of the Mediterranean University of Albania.
